Temporary Part-Time Municipal Worker/Refrigeration Operator I/II

Closing Date: August 18, 2017 @ 5:00 P.M.

The District of Houston is seeking qualified candidates for three Temporary Part-time positions as Municipal Service Workers / Refrigeration Operators to work at the Claude A. Parish Memorial Arena. Candidates must have sound related experience in ice-making operations and building services work. Candidates will also demonstrate strong customer service skills, establish and maintain good working relationships with staff and the public and have the ability to deal tactfully with groups and individuals. The primary responsibilities include:

  • Making, maintaining and monitoring ice surfaces;
  • Performing routine minor building repairs;
  • Cleaning and maintaining a variety of floor surfaces, glass, washrooms and change rooms

In order to qualify for this position, candidates must possess the following qualifications and experience:

  • raining in the area of refrigeration operations
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence
  • BC Refrigeration Operator’s Certificate or Ice Facility Operator’s Certificate
  • BC Refrigeration Operator or 5th Class Power Engineer Ticket (Refrigeration Operator II Only)
  • A Criminal Record check will be required prior to confirmation of employment.
Candidates with qualifications exceeding the required qualifications may be given preference over other candidates. An Arena Ice Maker's Certificate and a Building Service Worker Certificate are considered assets for this position.

Casual Lifeguards

The Houston Leisure Facility has a standing opening for Casual Lifeguards - inquire today about position availability!

In order to qualify, you must have certification from the National Lifesaving Society, a CPR "C" Certificate, and First Aid Level 1 training. Previous experience as a Lifeguard and Water Safety Instructor certification are preferable, but not necessary for the position.
