2022 Local Elections

Municipal Elections for the District of Houston are held every four years, and are governed by the rules set out in the Local Government Act and the District's election procedures bylaw. During these elections, candidates may be nominated to run for election to be either the Mayor, one of six Councilors, or the community's representative on the School Board for School District 54.

Following a 36 day campaign period, residents and property owners then elect one Mayor and six Councilors from the two pools of candidates. In the event that there is only a number of nominees equal to or less than the number of offices available (i.e. only one nominee for Mayor) at the closing of the nomination period, those individuals would be acclaimed to office.

2022 General Election

Qualified Electors of the District of Houston on October 15, 2022 will elect the 6 councillors for a (4) four-year term ending in October 2026.
