Director of Finance

As the leader of the Finance Team and reporting directly to the CAO, the Director of Finance is responsible for the overall management of the financial affairs of the District of Houston. This includes budgeting, financial planning, internal auditing, accounting, payroll, policy development, and the provision of financial and policy advice to the CAO and Council. Additionally, the Director will be responsible for researching, interpreting, and applying legislation and accounting practice standards in order to achieve organizational objectives and goals.

Municipal Service Worker I / Refrigeration Operator I

1 Temporary full-time position (medical coverage)

3 Temporary Part-time positions (seasonal)

Reporting to the Director of Leisure Services, this position provides a variety of services, both as an equipment operator and on occasion as a laborer, in keeping with the on-going operation and maintenance of the District’s parks and recreation facilities, including the arena, Community Hall, parks, and outdoor recreation areas. This is manual work that requires physical effort and agility in the performance of semi-skilled and unskilled work. This position is also responsible for the operation of the Claude A. Parish Memorial Arena, responding to abnormal conditions, and performing regular facility maintenance duties. This position will also monitor the ammonia refrigeration plant and follow written procedures respecting any activity when working with the system, as well as complete minor repairs, start-up and shut down of the Refrigeration System.

Equipment Operator II

The District of Houston is seeking applications for the position of Full-Time Equipment Operator 2. As part of the Public Works Team, you will be responsible for operating an assortment of heavy equipment and carrying out various duties as a labourer to meet the District's service mandate. Duties include activities related to Road Maintenance, Snow Removal, Parks Maintenance, Drainage Network Maintenance, and various other tasks.

This position will be employed on a full-time basis.

Casual Lifeguards

The Houston Leisure Facility has a standing opening for Casual Lifeguards - inquire today about position availability!

In order to qualify, you must have certification from the National Lifesaving Society, a CPR "C" Certificate, and First Aid Level 1 training. Previous experience as a Lifeguard and Water Safety Instructor certification are preferable, but not necessary for the position.
