Please inquire beforehand as to whether or not the information you are looking for is already publicly available, or if the information may be released without submitting a Freedom of Information Request. Information that is already publicly available or available on request will save both you and the District time and costs.
Certain classes of information may be subject to severance from any documents released under the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, or may be withheld entirely depending on the scope or nature of the subject information.
Pursuant to the the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, an applicant may be required to pay fees for the processing of an application. An estimate of those fees must be provided to the applicant prior to such fees being levied by the District. Please consult the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Regulation for a full fees schedule.
In order to file a Freedom of Information request with the District of Houston, please complete the Freedom of Information Request Form and submit it to the Corporate Services Officer by fax, mail, hand delivery or email.
