From time to time, works on the District's roads and utilities systems may cause a disruption in service. In such an event, the District will post notices in advance of planned service disruption here.

Water Main Flushing Taking Place Throughout June

Residents are advised that water main flushing will begin the week of June 9th and carry on through June until completed. Please refer to the highlights section of the District of Houston's home page or Facebook page for weekly updates on zones undergoing flushing each week.

Water main flushing is a process where municipalities clean water pipes and distribution systems by running water at high speeds through fire hydrants. This helps remove sediment and mineral deposits in the lines, ensuring clean drinking water and maintaining the system's reliability. If residents notice sediment or discoloration in their tap water, they are advised to let the tap water run until it clears up.
