Emergency Services

The District of Houston's Emergency Services Department oversees many aspects of emergency services and response in Houston, and work closely with the RCMP and BC Ambulance Service to ensure that Houston residents have access to them when they are needed.

Houston Volunteer Fire Department

Established in 1957, the Houston Volunteer Fire Department is composed of individuals committed to ensuring the safety of residents and protecting property from extensive fire damage where possible. The Fire Department conducts regular training exercises and strives to ensure that it has an exceptional response time to all emergencies, ranging from residential fires to motor vehicle accidents. The Houston Volunteer Fire Department also provides fire safety lectures and fire extinguisher demonstrations upon request to local schools, groups or service organizations and industry.

The Houston Volunteer Fire Department is currently classified as an "interior" level response unit as per BC's Fire Safety Playbook.

Police and Ambulance

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police provide policing services in the community, and work to solve and prevent crime in our community. Supported by seven police officers, two administrative staff, and the Houston Auxiliary Police Unit, the RCMP provide exceptional policing services to Houston residents.

Ambulatory services are provided by the BC Ambulance Service, a provincially operated pre-hospital emergency service.

In the event of an emergency, please call 911 immediately.
